Signature Cocktails
Did you know that the Grand Hotel Sitea has its own signature cocktail?
It is called Sitea: it carries the scent of exotic fruits and the colors of the sky and the sea.
It was 1985 when a very young Giuseppe "Beppe" Loi won the prestigious Angelo Zola Award-recognition reserved for the best bartenders under thirty his Blue Sky (rum, pineapple juice, orzata syrup, blue curaçao).
A few years later, having become the host of our American Bar, Beppe dedicated to the Grand Hotel Sitea his signature cocktail: thus, from the Blue Sky, the Sitea was born.
Vodka, pineapple juice, coconut, blue curaçao—and a journey back almost thirty years. The Sitea is a hidden gem, cherished by a select circle of loyal guests, now making its return to the menu in celebration of the Grand Hotel’s centenary. For this milestone, Beppe is crafting an exclusive Centennial Edition. Stay tuned.
Signature Cocktails.
The origins of the Americano go back to the iconic 1930s at Bar Camparino in Milan, when the name is said to have been coined as a nickname for the Milano-Torino, a cocktail much loved by American tourists who preferred it with a splash of soda.
There are also more colorful versions of the story, such as seeing the Americano as a tribute to the boxer Primo Carnera, nicknamed “the American,” or as a linguistic variation of the word “amaricante.”
What is certain is that it was the first cocktail ordered by James Bond in Ian Fleming’s novel Casino Royale. At the American Bar of the Sitea, Beppe reinterprets it with a personal twist: without soda and shaken.
The result? An unusual Americano with a surprisingly velvety texture.
An experience not to be missed.
