Located at No. 13 on central Via Cavour, the building originally known as Palazzo Piossasco di Rivalta dates back to the 17th century. It is situated on the corner of a lot bordered by the districts of Arcivescovado and Madonna degli Angeli. In the late 18th century, the palace became the property of Marquis Maurizio Luserna Rorengo di Rorà, who acquired it as an alternative residence to the family palace in Bene Vagienna, in the province of Cuneo. Its current appearance is the result of modernization carried out between 1779 and 1781 by Benedetto Alfieri. Alfieri reworked the Baroque elements typical of Guarini, aligning them with the classicism of Juvarra, his predecessor as court architect, thus giving the palace its present form. The palace later became the residence of Marquis Emanuele Luserna di Rorà, who served as mayor of Turin from 1862 to 1865. During his tenure, in 1864, Turin lost its status as the capital of Italy to Florence. However, Emanuele oversaw significant urban and industrial development in the city. In 2017, the Buratti-Lera family, owners of the adjacent Grand Hotel Sitea, acquired the main floor of the palace. After a meticulous two-year renovation, they converted it into the current Royal Palace, which features six suites, a wellness area, and a dedicated butler trained at TIBA | The International Butler Academy
The six suites boast frescoed ceilings, intricate stucco work, period mirrors, original "flying doors"—intentionally tilted as a clever 19th-century engineering trick to ensure they self-close—, grit floors, and elegant 19th-century parquet. Each suite has its own unique character and connects to a grand shared space: a stately reception hall accessible via the main staircase. The décor is décontracté—classic yet minimal, blending period and modern pieces sourced primarily from private collections for a look that’s both timeless and inviting. Guests are provided with a courtesy mobile phone, offering international calling, direct contact with the butler, and seamless navigation around the city as a personal device. With generous floor plans ranging from 50 to 83 square meters, the suites can be interconnected to create private, autonomous living spaces. Guests can enjoy in-room dining with selections from the Carlo and Camillo bistrot menu or take advantage of late-night room service. These spaces are also perfect for hosting private events, photo shoots, or temporary showrooms, offering a versatile and sophisticated setting.
